It's SHIOK to GIVE !!!!
That's our theme for LP 60's WOW Day !!!!
It was a great damn success !!!! Woohooo ~~ LP60 rocks the city !!!!
Feedback that our WOW Day was 1 of the best... well organised and with substance !!!!
It was hard work for the past 6 weeks...but looking at the children and elderly enjoying themselves to the fullest, it was all worthwhile.... SHIOK !!!!
Thank all who supported and contributed in any way for our SHIOK DAY !!! LP60 raised $24k for the beneficiaries.
2 scenarios that touched me the most yesterday:
1) Elderly... this lady from TP centre she speaks to herself. Prob she's really lonely in her 1-room flat. During the buffet lunch, she stacked her plate mountain high. She gorged herself with food even though she looked as if she had enough. She continued forcing herself to eat. It looked pretty bad. She gave me an impression of "i have to eat more now coz i may not have dinner." Gosh, it was heart wrenching. And when we gave the elderly their gifts, an ang pao of $200 and a really heavy goodie bag, the look in their eyes was unforgettable! This lady, i feel she just thought the ang pao was just like $10 or less. When she saw the 1st $50 note, she was in for a big surprise. But when she saw that it wasn't only 1 piece, she was in awe! She counted the 4 pieces over a few times before finally keeping it safely. My SGL said, the $200 could well be their livelihood for 2 months !!!
2) 2 kids.. both sisters. Met them during my Community service (CS) on saturdays during my reading sessions with the kids. Took charge of them. Naughty as they could be. But so adorable. How happy they could be participating in our activties, having a nice lunch and ice-cream for dessert. Even more so when they collected their pressies from our Mr Santa Clause. How happy they looked. And when they left, i went up the bus to look for them! Huge smiles on every kid's face =) The 2 sisters looked at me...and said..."See u next wk at class !!" OMG... it was f*cking heart warming. Just the day before, the r/s we had was not this way. It was really a big WOW to have created such a memorable event just for them and for LP60 and our volunteers.
Inspiring LP60. Creating a fantastic event! A Very sucessful WOW Day. An unforgettable moment for me. i LOVE LP60 !!!! LP60 ROCKS THE CITY !!!
